Bell Block Community Pool Charitable Trust
The Bell Block Community Pool Charitable Trust (BBCPCT) is a not-for-profit group that exists to keep our much-loved community pool thriving. The Trust owns the pool and is guided by a team of dedicated trustees, alongside a bunch of passionate locals who simply care about keeping this special place running for everyone in Bell Block and New Plymouth.
Together, our trustees and supporters help steer the big picture — things like planning for the future, managing our finances, sorting funding, shaping programmes, and keeping the pool safe and well-maintained. Most importantly, we work to make sure the pool stays welcoming, accessible, and genuinely valuable for the whole community.

Q&A
Frequently Asked Questions
Why has the structure changed?
Reforms to the Incorporated Societies Act meant the Pool Society needed to transition to a Charitable Trust. This work has been completed with guidance from a specialist community-sector solicitor, and the new Trust structure is now in place.
Is there an AGM?
No — because the Incorporated Society has now been dissolved as part of the transition, there will be no Society AGM going forward. From here, governance will be guided by the Trustees under the Charitable Trust Act and the Trust Deed.
Does anything change for pool users?
Not at all. Everything you know and love about the pool continues just the same. Your lane swims, aquabikes, family splash sessions, and community activities all carry on as usual. We’re still your local pool — open, welcoming, and here for everyone.
What does the new structure look like?
The Trustees are shaping a simple and supportive four-pillar model for 2026, which will help guide how we operate and stay connected with the community. These four pillars include:
• Governance
• Funding and sponsorship
• Community engagement
• Operations and facilities
We’ll share more updates in the new year, especially around how the community can get involved.
As always, thank you for being part of our Bell Block Pool whānau.
